If you ever get a chance to drive or walk down Casey Key some evening, stop by and take a moment to enjoy this beautiful view. While I was shooting this photo, a local resident stopped by to chat. As we discussed the gorgeous view, in a voice laced with sadness, he mentioned that erosion threatens this old staircase. He said he's not sure how much longer it will be before the sea swallows up the old staircase. Like much of the beauty we see on this planet, the staircase is not impermeable to threats like erosion and hurricane damage. While some threats are out of our control, many are not. We can all do our part to help keep this world beautiful, by making smart choices like recycling and maintaining the health of our environment.
