As a landscape photographer one of life's most simple yet stunning pleasures is witnessing a lazy sunset melting slowly over the open waters spanning the Gulf of Mexico. Living in beautiful Sarasota, Florida this pleasure is amplified by the city's stunning architecture and the warm vibrant glow the sun seems to reserve for us here in this beautiful artsy town. Living here for five years now, one might expect this effect to lessen over time, but the opposite is closer to the truth. Each day I wake up at 4:30am to catch the sun's escape from beyond the horizon, only to immediately begin day dreaming of the impending sunset I know is to come. If you are like me and enjoy watching a good sunset from a bird's view then you should absolutely visit the Westin rooftop bar. Situated in the heart of downtown Sarasota the view is absolutely breathtaking. If you stop in be sure to bring your favorite sunglasses and your best camera because the sunset will not disappoint.
