Most of your childhood stories describe the mighty Greek god Poseidon as protector of the seas. They will tell you of a white-bearded, ill-tempered, and weathered old man wielding his powerful triton to protect his precious underwater kingdom keeping balance and order. While this depiction is true, its not fully accurate, Ancient Greek mythology describes him not only as the god of the Sea, but just importantly as the husband of the earth. This is an important detail because it reinforces the connection between our planets vast oceans and roaming plains. To preserve one is to preserve the other. - The world is your backyard
